One of the things that has made Delane Fitzgerald stand out as a college football coach is his love for the game and his experience. He was playing football ever since he was a child. He even played college ball at Potomac State College, as well as James Madison University. Once he finished his own football career, he would go on to become the Defensive Coordinator at the Bridgton Academy. Then at James Madison he would get acquainted with defense by becoming the Defensive Line Coach. These experiences helped him to learn what makes a good football program, and what makes a bad one.

Solidarity is an important part of a football team because that is what it takes to be successful on the field, teamwork. That is why it is encouraged that coaches keep every player involved with each other on and off the field. This means preventing cliques from forming.
