Delane Fitzgerald - A Stronger Work Ethic

Delane Fitzgerald has experienced a considerable amount of success as the Head Coach at Frostburg State University. Before that he was the Head Coach at Southern Virginia University. There he was awarded the “Head Coach of the Year” award for his outstanding contributions to the football program. He has also been known to be a good leader and mentor for his players, giving them letters of recommendation and teaching them lifelong skills like accountability, discipline, and a strong work ethic. He isn’t just a coach, but a father-figure for many young athletes. Delane leads by example, showing these kids what they are capable of when they put in a little extra hard work.

Delane Fitzgerald knows that developing a strong work ethic is important for success in the real world. That is why he believes it is important to develop that ethic from a young age. One way to do that is to embrace all of the responsibilities that come your way. That means not procrastinating and being accountable for your actions. That means not making excuses. According to Steve Palvina, a respected personal development blogger with over 100 million site visits, he suggests that you train your work ethic until it becomes second nature. Then it becomes easier to work hard than to be lazy and procrastinate.

One of the ways that Delane Fitzgerald has put together a successful football program is by demonstrating the power of a strong work ethic. He leads by example, and his players follow out of respect and admiration.

Delane Fitzgerald Shares How to Be a Stronger Leader

Delane Fitzgerald is not just known for being the head coach at Frostburg State University. The man is also known for being a strong leader and mentor for athletes and youth. This is something that he has proven through years of dedication and experience. His abilities have aided in him being presented the “James Lough Leadership Award”, as well as the “John David Kraus Leadership Award. He has also been presented with the “Southern Virginia University Coach of the Year” award. All of these accolades have contributed to him having a successful career as a football coach. Strong leadership is something that takes time to develop, but is a valuable life skill.

Delane Fitzgerald One way to become a stronger leader like Delane Fitzgerald, is to develop better decision-making skills. As a leader, the success of the entire team often hinges on your ability to make the right decisions. That means you have to know the team inside and out. When Brent Gleeson, a former Navy Seal writes about leadership, he says this, “When you spend more time working directly with your team on various projects, you will have a better understanding of what each person’s skill sets are. You will be able to identify gaps, ensure people are in the right roles, and know when it’s time to adjust certain systems and processes.”

One of the ways Delane Fitzgerald became a better leader was by developing his decision-making skills. That process takes multiple steps, such as gathering information and learning the ins and outs of a team.

Delane Fitzgerald, Improving Leadership Skills

One of the ways that Delane Fitzgerald has set himself apart from other football coaches is with his strong leadership skills. He understands how to mentor young athletes and get them to trust his judgement. This is something that takes time and experience to master. Delane’s understanding of the leadership role has been recognized by many, and even won him several awards. He was given the “James Lough Leadership Award” as well as the “John David Kraus Leadership Award” for his abilities. He understands what it takes to be a rallying point for a team. One of the ways that Delane Fitzgerald became a good mentor and leader is earning the respect of his team. This is an important step because it is unlikely that others will follow you unless they are confident in your abilities. In fact, Brent Gleeson, a columnist for Forbes and a SEAL wrote this when speaking on leadership, “Leading by example involves an element of servant leadership. As a SEAL you are taught to lead and be led. You train with your team and fight with your team. Any good leader will make a point to acquire the best possible talent they can.”

Delane Fitzgerald knows that in order to win the respect of a team, you have to be willing to get your hands dirty with them. That means fighting with them side by side and leading by example. That mentality helps inspire others to follow.

Delane Fitzgerald Covers Football Cliques

One of the things that has made Delane Fitzgerald stand out as a college football coach is his love for the game and his experience. He was playing football ever since he was a child. Once he finished his own football career, he would go on to become the Defensive Coordinator at the Bridgton Academy. Then at James Madison he would get acquainted with defense by becoming the Defensive Line Coach. These experiences helped him to learn what makes a good football program, and what makes a bad one.

One of the things that helps to build a strong football program is comradery among the team. Solidarity is an important part of a football team because that is what it takes to be successful on the field, teamwork. That is why it is encouraged that coaches keep every player involved with each other on and off the field. This means preventing cliques from forming.

David Clarke, a professional coach says this on the matter, “Avoid cliques. Cliques are groups of players who stick together. Avoid cliques by splitting up players to work in different groups or on different teams in training.”

Delane Fitzgerald knows that part of building a successful football program is having a group that works together. Teamwork is a part of the game. Delane Fitzgerald has helped build winning programs by using strategies based on keeping a team working together well and valuing each other as both players and people.

Pretreat The Stain

It can be tempting just to toss that stinky jersey into the laundry, but if you want to get stains out you need to pretreat them before they set. Use a laundry stain remover to spray or apply to the stain and allow it to set for at least 10 minutes. Then toss it in the laundry and wash it.

Soak It

Sometimes a stain can be easier to remove if it has been soaked before it is washed. You may choose to pretreat the stain before you soak it soak it is a laundry booster that has the ability to remove stains.
Check Before You Dry

Before you put, the treated and washed jersey into the dryer make sure the stain is gone. If the jersey is dried with the stain still on it, it could be harder to remove it. Heat can make a stain and that is the last thing you want to happen. If the stain does not come out during the first wash, treat it and wash it again.

Football jerseys are always going to get dirty and stained, but they don’t have to stay that way. By treating the stain and removing it properly, you can remove them. The next time you have a dirty football jersey to wash remember to check it for stains.
